What is LinkedIn and do I need it for my business? This gets asked a lot so I thought I would do a post with the answers. LinkedIn is all about business networking. Its a really useful tool fro connecting with new business professionals, finding new employees and joining like minded groups. Do you need it for your business? Well LinkedIn themselves say you only need 100 – 200 followers of your company page to reach the tipping point to start making an impact and driving engagement.
Set up a LinkedIn profile page for you individually and one for your business – a LinkedIn company page. Use relevant keywords for your company in the specialities section. This will help you get found in searches.
Get a Vanity URL – When you edit your LinkedIn profile go to the “public profile” section to create your LinkedIn URL of your choice.
On your personal profile add a 100 x 60 pixels recent photo of yourself. Keep it business like so preferably just a head and shoulders shot. No itty bitty bikinis or speedo trunks. The default landing page of your business profile is the home tab. This takes a banner 646×220 pixels. Use the space to convey your company’s image and message.
On your company profile there is a section on the right that shows your products, services and careers. Make sure you are showcasing your primary products and services etc.
Monitor network statistics. In network statistics you can see how many connections you are currently reaching. You can also check how updates are performing . After 24 hours it will show the number of impressions and engagement.
The Company Page Products Tab, Encourage Recommendations. One of the good things about the Products Tab of your company page is the Recommended by Your Network sidebar. This shows any visitor to your page the people you are connected with have endorsed your products or services. People are much more influenced by what their peers and network connections recommend.
