I first saw poinsettia dies on Create and Craft weeks and weeks ago. Sue Wilson was doing one of her brilliant spellbinder sessions and the poinsettia card looked just so elegant. At long last I ordered one of the spellbinder poinsettia dies but it has taken me several attempts to create a flower I am happy with.
When I just cut and embossed the die it came out ok but lacked the elegant look and looked rather flat. What I did with the flower in the picture is to use the largest flower die to cut two lots in green. Then cut the four layers of petals in glitter card. From the back on all the layers I carefully used the largest embossing tool and a rubber mat to bend the flowers. I had to be careful with this bit as the centre of each layer is rather fragile.
Then it was just a case of using a strong glue to add each layer. I dot on the glue and hold the layer in place for a few moments with a pointy tool before adding the next layer. Taking my time stopped the layers springing out of place.
