Day 17: Tell us how to do something, can be a craft technique that’s as old as the hills but your take on it OR Craft something that has the colour red in it
I’m cheating slightly as I already put this how to up awhile back but seeing as I put the card up a few days ago and today’s prompt is how to make something or red I think I managed to match everything for once.
The first thing I made was the heart. Its made up of 5 hearts that get slightly smaller and stuck together with foam pads.
When the 5 hearts are stuck on each other they make a raised pyramid shape.
I knew I was going to use red and gold embossing on the background paper so I stamped and embossed a plain piece of red to punch the hearts from.
I then punched out lots of little flowers from the embossed paper and plain red paper. I think a few red glitter card found its way in there too.
Next I pinched all the flowers so that they were more dimensional and not just flat flowers. I use a spare computer mouse mat and either a fine embossing tool or a poky tool. I just press into the middle of the flower on the mat and it pushes up all the petals.
When I have enough flowers ready I start putting them on the heart base. Starting at the top I used a good strong glue and applied it to the top. I use two poky tools at the same time. Using one I pick up a flower, stabbing it with the poky tool picks it up long enough to place it where you want it. With the poky tool in my other hand I hold it in place as I pick up another flower with the other tool.
For the backing paper I inked the edges of a piece of cream card with Tim Holtz distressed ink. Fist with vintage photo and then walnut on the edge. then using a swirly stamp I decorated around the edge with various colours and then used embossing powders on top.
I also applied embossing ink and powder to some swirls I had die cut so that tehy match in too .
Lastly adding some die cut letters to form the word love, I stuck it all together.
