After making a fair few Easter cards I also had to make a Happy Chocolate Day card for someone. I think I got the colour of the egg just right as they did comment that the egg looked good enough to eat. ( Now there’s another idea – buts another time). It was a very simple card to make and here is how I did it.
I Used :
Brown card, cream card and dark brown card.
Swirl embossing folder – cant remember where I got it from but any swirly pattern would work.
Memory Box Dies – Pastry Labels
Flower hand punches.
Cosmic shimmer glue in brown and white.
Oddment of wide ribbon.
Butterfly die – think this one was free on a magazine.
Computer, bigshot, glue, A5 card blank, embossing tool, mouse mat and guillotine.
First I cut the lighter brown card to fit the card blank and stuck down. I embossed the cream card with the Bon Jour Embossing folder and glued that to the light brown on the card.
Cutting the egg shape was a bit of trial and error but once happy with it I embossed it with the swirl embossing folder. I printed the sentiment and then put it through with the bigshot with the Pastry Label die. In hindsight this was a bit hit and miss so in future I will only use stamped sentiments on the pastry label as the printed method was a bit tricky. The ribbon was threaded through the pastry label die and then I placed the label to the front of the egg. Wrapping the ribbon around the egg and securing with some glue. The egg was then stuck to the card using sticky pads to give a raised effect.
With the oddments of cream and lighter brown card I cut the flowers and then worked them on the mat with the embossing tool. After gluing the flowers to the card I used the cosmic shimmer glue for the flower centres adding the butterfly and a few cosmic shimmer dots in swirls last.
