Day 29: What advice would you give to a newbie crafter OR Craft something that has the colour orange on it
The very short quick advice would be have very deep pockets and a large room.
The long version would be…..you will want to buy everything. Its all sparkly, pretty and bound to come in use and some point. Instead of using the ‘it will come in use’ line think out what you will really do with it. I have several things that I just had to have and probably never used.
On bigger purchases like die cutting machines etc have a look and play with them in the shops. Places like Hobbycraft have them out so you see how heavy they are or how easy to move handles etc. Doesn’t mean you have to buy from them, you just get to see what they are like before you buy.
Shop around for your stuff too. Ebay is a good place but keep an eye on postage . Don’t disregard the smaller craft shops especially online. Sometimes they can match the prices of the big shops and most often their customer service and delivery really good.
The biggest bit of advice is to enjoy it. If it becomes a chore then its not a hobby. And don’t beat yourself up if you think everyone else is better then you. Even seasoned crafters are still learning. Its a journey not a destination.
