Day 27: Crafting muck ups, tell us how you got round them OR Craft something that has dots
Back in my younger days I was a seamstress. I started off working for a department store in the sewing room making curtains and soft furnishings. When the store closed I kept on sewing as sideline till I divorced and turned to making bespoke wedding dresses. One of my favorite dresses was for a bride who knew exactly what she wanted and was a breeze to work with. On the day her huge skirt rustled like someone out of Gone with the Wind. Her bodice was the most delicate and sparkly pale pink. It was so boned and stiffened into place it could stand up on the table on its own.
One of the things I would do would be go and help the bride into her dress just in case there was any last minute disasters. On helping this bride get dressed we completely forgot how tight the bodice was to get on and off. She had her hair and makeup all beautifully done and I had to get her into her bodice that went over her head without touching the hair or makeup and more importantly without panicking her so she didn’t sweat.
Relief is an understatement when I finally got her into her bodice. I think I sweated her share of sweat too. As she got into the car to go off and get married she was all smiles and gorgeousness. It wasn’t till a few weeks later I caught up with her and she told me the funny news that she couldn’t get out of the bodice at the end of the evening and her new husband offered to cut her out. It was nearly divorce before the day had even finished as she was not liking the cutting her out idea. Safe to say they got there in the end and the dress wasnt cut. ( They are still blissfully married with 2 lovely children)
